The XVI annual conference of ISCCP was held at Raipur on the 13th and 14th of April 2024, in association with AIIMS, Raipur. The theme of the conference was chosen as “Fill the gap, eliminate cervical cancer- from theory to practice”.
The venue of the conference was the aauditorium at AIIMS, Raipur, a central government institute with a large auditorium, lecture halls, environmentally friendly campus and facilities for accommodation of faculty and delegates with spacious areas.
ISCCPCON 2024 was awarded SIX credit points by the CGMC.
On the 13th of April 2024 workshops, inauguration, the S.K Das Oration, Panel Discussion, Debates and cultural program were held.
The conference was well attended by more than 150 delegates and faculty from all over India and outside India. Dr Usha Saraiya delivered S.K Das Oration on topic “New paradigms in cervical pathology and colposcopy”. The luminaries were many eminent gynecologists like Dr Elsa Diaz, Dr Leela Digumarti, Dr Priya Ganeshkumar, Dr Neerja Bhatla, Dr Saritha Shamsunder, Dr G S Jyothi, Dr Bhagyalakshmi, Dr Sweta Balani, Dr Mamta Dagar and others, who came from various parts of India. They enthralled the delegates with their knowledge and experience. It was a treat for knowledge seeking gynecologists in the field of cervical cancer prevention.
In workshop 1, Colposcopy of cervix and local treatment was conducted by eminent gynaecologists. Several related topics like nomenclature, normal and abnormal colposcopy were explained in detail, along with video demonstration of procedures like thermal coagulation, cold coagulation, LEEP and conization.
In workshop 2, Colposcopy of vulva, vagina and its treatment were conducted by experts in field of colposcopy of vulva and vagina along with dermatologist. Several topics like nomenclature and documentation, normal and abnormal vulva and vaginal findings and its treatment were discussed in detail.
Workshop 3, Cytology, HPE, IHC & HPV was very interesting: a team of pathologists and microbiologist took an active part and explained the various aspects of cytology and immunohistochemistry in relation to HPV with interesting case scenarios with demonstration of cytology slides. It was well attended by pathologists, gynaecologists and microbiologists. It was a unique workshop of Gynaecologists, microbiologists and Pathologists on one platform to explain cervical cancer pathogenesis and its diagnosis.
Workshop 4, was a public forum on cervical cancer prevention and it was conducted on day 2 of conference. It was attended by NGOs, health care workers, security guards, representative of different societies and media. It was moderated by Dr Asha Jain and queries related to cervical cancer were explained by experts.
On Day 1, following the workshops, a hands-on session was conducted for procedure like LEEP and Thermal ablation.
On the first day afternoon, from 2 pm onwards, the scientific program consisted of S.K Das oration, panel discussion and debates. The topics chosen were well appreciated by delegates.
The inaugural function was held from 6pm to 7 pm. Lt Gen Ashok Jindal Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS, Raipur graced the occasion. Dr. Leela Digumarti, President, ISCCP, Dr Asha Jain, the Organising Chairperson, delivered their messages.
The inaugural function on the first day was followed by a general body meeting of ISCCP members.
The first day concluded with a cultural program and Gala dinner.
14th April 2024: Free papers, posters, SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM, Guest lectures, Panel Discussion and prize distribution
Free-paper presentations and poster competition were held in the morning of 2nd day and evaluated by senior faculty members as judges.
The main conference was on the second day, 14th April 2024. Four keynote addresses by distinguished speakers, debate, panel discussion and quiz competition of precancerous lesions of cervix and its management enlightened the delegates.
Professor Sankaranarayanan delivered a talk on the role of AI and apps in achieving WHO global target of 90:70:90. The delegates were very impressed with his depth of knowledge and felt benefited.
Dr Elsa Dias, the secretary of IFCPC delivered her keynote address on topic way to achieve SDG goal for cervical cancer elimination.
The keynote address was immediately followed by felicitation of Dr. Neerja Bhatla with Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of her contributions to the world on cervical cancer elimination.
Over the course of the 2nd day of the conference, a trade exhibition was held. There were several colposcopes on exhibition including handheld, portable and AI models. There was also equipment for therapeutic procedure like Thermal ablation, Cryotherapy, LEEP and demonstration of HPV sample collection kit and other items.
The foot-soldiers who worked for the success of the conference were all the delegates and faculty who carried home fond memories of the conference and the hospitality.
I especially thank Dr Leela Digumarti for her unconditional support, deep involvement and timely advice and counsel. I also thank my teammates and coworkers for their teamwork. I profusely thank all the faculty members, delegates, sponsors and all the ISCCPCON team for their contribution and support.
The conference concluded with a valedictory function and prize distribution for free papers, poster presentation and quiz.
The foot-soldiers who contributed to the conference’s success were duly acknowledged. The delegates and faculty left home with happy memories of the conference and the hospitality.
