Cervical Cancer Elimination – Day of Action – 1st November 2024 was celebrated at Cytology Clinic (AMWI) at Cama Hospital. A Health Camp was held for women where Breast and Cervical Screening was done. Importance was given to Awareness promotion with relevant Posters and talks by Doctors and Nurses. It was organised with the help of PASAYADAN Charity Trust and supported by Dr. Tushar Palve, Superintendent and Vice Dean of Cama Hospital and the Medical College.

Breast Examination with a Scanner has proved to be very acceptable to all patients. Interest was also shown in Vaccination for HPV. The experience of our Cancer ward sisters was very valuable to all those present. They explained how good conselling to accept Cancer like any other chronic disease was very helpful in changing the attitude of the patient and her relatives. From an attitude of total denial of therapy and accepting death, they moved on to a positive attitude ready to fight the disease and accepting all types of treatment. Even the pain which was unbearable, became bearable and patients began happily talking to each other and enjoying TV shows. They were ready to complete therapy and the dropout rate came down. Many of the people who came said that posters were good and should become a permanent Health Museum and become a regular display.

All in all, a very encouraging interaction with Public.
